Underfloor Heating Systems
Underfloor Heating is becoming an increasingly popular method of heating the home. Being highly efficient and affordable are just two of the reasons why more and more UK homeowners are installing underfloor heating.
Over the last 20 years, JSJ Gas has carried out many underfloor heating system installations in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch & across the New Forest. Many people opt for underfloor heating during bathroom installations or kitchen refurbishments and is both popular and effective in conservatories.
Underfloor Heating can be installed to run alongside your current central heating system and is ideal for both existing properties and new builds. It is suitable for use with most floor types including concrete and floating/suspended timber floors, whether tiled or carpeted - although we will discuss the installation in detail with you at the time of our initial survey and quote.
How Do Underfloor Heating Systems Work?
Warm water is circulated through thin pipes that are installed beneath your floor (creating a 'sub-floor'), transferring heat evenly through the flooring to the room above and provides a gentle air circulation from directly underneath you with an even heat distribution throughout the entire room - leaving no cold spots.
With conventional radiator systems, heat is pushed up towards the ceiling in hotspots only to travel downwards again, cooling on the way back to the ground. Uneven warmth is then created with the majority of warm air being higher up in the room - often gathered in specific areas.
Real Wood & Laminate Underfloor Heating
Real wood and laminate floors are poor conductors of heat - although in spite of this, underfloor heating works well with wooden flooring.
It is important to check the manufacturer's or supplier's guidelines
when planning to install underfloor heating beneath timber or laminate floors - and this will be discussed with you during our initial survey, prior to providing a quote.
Ceramic & Stone Tile Underfloor Heating
Nearly all types of tile flooring are naturally cold (especially throughout the winter months) and therefore tiled floors lend themselves well to underfloor heating systems... A major consideration when installing underfloor heating for tiled floors is the thickness of the tiles: the deeper the tile, the longer it will take to heat it to the required temperature - but your tiles will remain at a constant temperature until your heating has been switched off and will retain the heat for some time after that.
It is important to be aware that the cost of pulling up an existing concrete floor in order to install underfloor heating can sometimes be prohibitive - installing the system at the same time as a new floor or when having an extension it is the best opportunity to run the pipework. Raising the floor is not normally viable as this reduces door height.
JSJ Gas is fully experienced and able to lay tiled floors above your new underfloor system, thus completing your entire flooring project seamlessly and efficiently using just one supplier.
